Air Conditioning is a process of transferring heat from one place to another. With a split system Air Conditioner we place an evaporator coil in the furnace ductwork and a condensing coil outside. The air from inside the house moves through the evaporator coil which collects the heat and then transfers that heat to the outside where the condenser coil releases the heat to the outside, making the indoor air cooler. How to choose an Air Conditioner

SEER Rating: The SEER rating (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating) is a similar type of rating system as is used to measure the energy efficiency of a furnace. Typical SEER ratings range between 10-19 SEER for new air conditioners. The higher the SEER rating, the greater the energy efficiency. Currently, the Government mandates a minimum of a 13 SEER rating for air conditioners.
